There’s one day in my scouting year that I look forward to more than any campout or event—it’s the annual planning meeting! This is where the magic happens. Every summer, we gather for a true meeting of the minds to map out the entire school year in just three hours. Parents are invited to join us, and with a Chick-fil-A order in hand, we roll up our sleeves and get to work! Each person has something valuable to contribute, and together, we shape the events, trim the budget, and lay out the fun that awaits. The excitement is contagious as we reveal new adventures, scout activities, and the goals we’ll work toward. This meeting sets the stage for an incredible year, and it’s hands down my favorite day of the scouting calendar.
We coordinate monthly pack meetings to keep everyone engaged and excited, plan our camping trips to create lasting memories, and organize advancement activities that help our scouts grow and learn. We also make sure to align with school schedules, keeping an eye on important dates like test days, holidays, and breaks so that scouting never adds extra stress for the kids or families. Every event and activity is thoughtfully placed on the calendar with balance in mind—ensuring fun, learning, and community without conflicting with school responsibilities. I encourage all our leaders to attend local roundtable meetings for fresh ideas and encouragement. Here’s a sneak peek at our pack’s ideal year, and a copy of our 2023-24 Pack Planning Document. I hope it inspires you to get involved and energized for the months ahead!
