As single parents, we’re often expected to juggle it all—work, family, school, and of course, Cub Scouts or Boy Scouts. It can feel like we’re wearing too many hats at once, and at times, the weight can be overwhelming. But here’s the truth: we don’t have to do it all alone. One of the greatest strengths we can have as single Scout parents is a strong, supportive community. Whether it’s for sharing ideas, getting advice, or simply feeling understood, having a network of people who “get it” can make all the difference.

That’s why I’m so excited to introduce No Solo Scouts: Single Scout Parents Community Facebook group—a place designed specifically for single parents navigating the world of Scouting. It’s more than just another social media group; it’s a space where we can connect, share, and grow as a community.

The Benefits of Community

1. Shared Wisdom One of the biggest benefits of having a community is the wealth of collective knowledge that comes with it. Whether you’re struggling to balance badge work with a full-time job, or wondering how to get through your first Cub Scout camping trip solo, someone in the group has probably been there. In the Single Scout Parents Community, you can ask questions, share experiences, and gain insights from parents who have walked in your shoes. From time-saving tips to creative activity ideas, the wisdom of other Scout parents is invaluable.

2. Emotional Support Let’s be honest: being a single parent isn’t easy. And sometimes, what we really need is someone who understands, without judgment. Having a supportive community means having a safe space to vent, share your struggles, and get that much-needed encouragement. You’ll find others who know exactly what you’re going through, and sometimes, just hearing “I’ve been there too” can lift a huge weight off your shoulders. In our Facebook group, you’ll never have to feel alone in your parenting journey.

3. Encouragement and Accountability Whether it’s organizing a fundraiser, helping your child prepare for a badge, or just staying on top of Scouting activities, having a community can give you the motivation to keep going. When you see other parents making it work, it reminds you that you can too. Plus, being part of a group can give you the accountability you need to stay focused on your goals—both as a parent and as a participant in your child’s Scouting journey.

I love this idea! Juggling Scouts with work, meals, and other commitments is hard, parents need all the support we can get.

I honestly feel this was my biggest area of personal growth. It did take 7yr and a Wood Badge weekend to get it through my thick skull. lol Glad you enjoyed.
