This website is designed to be a place to gather incite, connect with other single scout parents, and recharge on this crazy scouting journey we have chosen to add into our already busy lives.

My name is Makeda, I am a divorced mother of 2, my son is currently in Troop and my daughter at the time of this launch is a Bear.

When I was a kid scouts had a bad wrap, so I was culturally challenged to consider scouts but when my son who at the time was in 1 st grade came home with a flyer and it was shut down without hesitation without consideration, I was open to the idea when he was brave enough to represent the opportunity again in second grade.

Sure, it started off as a pair of eyes excited about a flyer passed out at school, but over the years it has woven through the very fabric of our lives. Scouting has becoming part of our social group, our sports events, and has made connection not just for the kids but me as a parents too. When I singed my son up for scouts 7 years ago I never in my wildest dream thought that I would be starting a blog to help others like me find a way into scouting. I never considered that I might enjoy this community so much I would be “working” my Wood Badge ticket. (If you don’t know what a ticket is don’t worry, you will find out)

Even as I write this I can’t believe a Brooklyn born “Jamerican” like myself, would be wrapping wabbles while I hum Back to Gilwell. Yes, I started because of his big brown eyes full of excitement in a time of our lives where there was very little to be excited about, but I stayed because it became a part of our lives. I serve because of the value these memories and the precious moments created at sunrise over a cup of coffee, parenting stories at the campfire, and the cuddles after watching my kids minds and confidence grow exponentially due to their empowerment over the course of a short 2 night camping trip time and time again.

Come on by the fire, there is a cup of coffee and stories to share.
